Even Superheroes need self-care...

creating first steps healing mindfulness self-care Apr 10, 2020
I know you want to save the world.

God knows the world sure looks as though it needs saving right now.

I know you lie awake at night worrying about how you can keep your loved ones safe. Especially at times like this.

I know fear can hijack your brain and spin you into a hot mess.

I know your mind runs on a continuous loop thinking of ways you can control all the outcomes.

I know you would give everything you have just to go back in time and undo anything that caused pain to your children.

And to go ahead of them to make sure they never experience pain in the future.

I know you think it’s your responsibility to solve all the problems of the world.

As much as it sounds like this is too tall an order for anyone, I know it doesn’t feel too tall for you.

I know you believe you can do all of this.

Or die trying.

Here’s the thing.

The only way you stand a chance of doing any of this, is if you TAKE CARE OF YOUR SELF FIRST. You can’t save the world before you save yourself.

I know we’re not on planes these days, but the oxygen mask rule still applies. You are to place yours on yourself before trying to help others.

First you take care of YOU.

Fill your cup.

Feed your soul.

And THEN you do the same for others.

And stay clear of anything that feels like kryptonite to you.

And here’s one more thing to consider.

What if the world didn’t need saving?

What if, just for today, you could trust that everything is unfolding exactly as it should?

What if your most important job for today was just to breathe?

I promise, your cape and tights will be right where you left them tomorrow. xo
