Happy Mother's Day!

Here’s what my mama has taught me about being a mother...

We don’t have to give birth to someone to be their mom.

We don’t have to be perfect. In fact, we can legit mess up on a fairly regular basis and still have our kids turn into lovely human beings.

We love the best way we know how, and some days, our best isn’t as good as others, but we always love hard.

God places us in the arms of the mama that is exactly the mama we need, to learn the lessons we came here to learn, and to make the difference we are intended to make in the world. Never doubt that.

And perhaps the most valuable lesson of all...I’ve learned that our mind is incredibly powerful. Perhaps the most powerful tool we have at our disposal as humans.  If you can focus your thoughts on all the beauty and wonder in the world. If you can believe that people are always trying to do their best. If you can choose to see how things are always working out for you. If you can choose love over fear. You will live a very different life than if you don’t...especially in your mind.

Love on your mamas today.

It’s the hardest fricken job in the world.

It’s no small wonder many of us think we’re doing it all wrong.

And yet, we continue to mother, the best way we know how, no matter how old our children are.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you who “mother”...as a step-mom, as a mom of babies who are only in your hearts, as a fur-mom, or as an aunt who does a fabulous Donald Duck impression.

Love is love.

And the world is a better place because of the love you share.

Don’t stop. xo
